The short grace notes aren’t being played properly
I have a question regarding short grace notes in a simple vocal+piano score. I recently installed version 4.5.1, but it doesn't play back short grace notes properly. In the same file, version 3.6.2 (which I haven't used in a long time) plays everything correctly. Screenshot is here. What could be the reason? Thank you!

Plays the same in my 3.7 (3.6.2 doesn't open it) as in 4.5.2

Grace notes don't playback attached to the first beat of the measure. They playback on the other beats of the measure. This has always been an issue in Musescore.

Has that ever been reported on GitHub=?

No, I have not reported it on GitHub as it was my first attempt to use grace notes in version 4.5.1. Actually, I have been working with different versions of MuseScore for many years, starting with the first one. But I encountered this situation for the first time.

Colleagues, thank you. Have the developers been able to fix this yet? My grace notes aren't playing properly even when they're not on the first beat of the measure :-( And since this still isn’t working, is rolling back to version 3 our only option now?

As long as there's no report on GitHub, there's no chance this will ever get fixed

Ok, that is clear now. My next step is to write to the support team using the HELP page. Many thanks to everybody!

I mean support as at attached file.

That's the support for musescore.com.
Support for MuseScore Studio is here and done (largly) by unpaid volunteers.
And confirmed bugs need to get reported on GitHub for the (paid) developers to see it

I have never experienced any problems with grace notes on the first or any other beat of the measure. I just verified that, in v.4.5.2, there is no such problem and I can recall specific instances in several previous versions of them working normally, on all beats of the measure.

Will you please to check up my file test_grace_notes.mscz from my answer from attachment above? Maybe you use special settings? Or you are using it by default? Thanks in advance!

It is playing the grace notes. It's just that the attack of the voice "instrument" is gradual enough that the grace notes are hidden in the mush. If you listen very closely, you can make it out, but only just barely. A tiny hint of the ornament.
Change the Instrument to one with a sharper attack and you'll hear it just fine. They play better if you use the acciaciatura grace note instead of the appoggiatura.
This is the (one of the) main reason I dislike the MuseScore's voice "instruments". I always use other instruments to stand in for voices: most commonly oboe, trombone, or harmonica, depending on what the music is.

Oh, thank you so much! I had no idea it depended so heavily on the attack. I've installed version 4.5.2, and it actually plays correctly in another file (using piano as the instrument). Thanks again — the issue solved!
