note heads
Hi
I've got a piece for clarinets where two parts start with percussion. Their clarinet contribution comes later, still on the same line.
Where percussion is required I would like to change the note heads to X, so it's more obviously percussion, but they refuse to be changed. Weirdly, I can change note heads on other lines where percussion is not involved, but not on the ones where it is.
In the beginning I started with "one leger line" type percussion parts, but discovered, when 'change to clarinet' came along, I couldn't put five leger lines into just that section of the part. It had to be five lines all the way along.
I have attached the .mscz file.
Any help would be most appreciated. Thank you in anticipation.

I can't reproduce it, but maybe I'm not in the right place.
Can you please specify the measure numbers where the problem lies for you?

Thank you. Anywhere on the C3 or C4 lines before Libertango starts.

In the Percussion panel, by using the "Customize Kit" feature / Notehead group: "Cross" instead of "Normal"?

Sorry. That hasn't worked. I think the impediment might be a percussion part written into a tuned line; i.e. on the five lines that will later be needed for a clarinet part. I need to convince the clarinet player, that just for now, it's a percussion note, not a tuned note.

Did you open my attached file? Isn't that what you want? If not, sorry, I don't really understand what you're trying to do, and I pass the baton to others.

Haha... No. We didn't get crossed. It was night time here. I should have just gone to bed. Yes. Problem solved. I'm very pleased. Thank you again. ❤️

If still interested, for "one leger line" type percussion part, have a look at this:

N.B.: for the 'change to clarinet', also change the staff type to 5 lines, see:

P.S.: For percussion cross X head (what @cadiz1 mentioned), see:

Ah. Thank you for that. Very helpful. I've sent the parts off to the players now, but it'll be good if I have more problems later. Yes. Thank you again.
