At the time, spacebar does Play & Pause, which means that if you press spacebar again it will play from where you left off.

My suggestion is something like "Ctrl + Spacebar" to do a Play & Stop routine, meaning that you would press Spacebar to play from measure/note "X", Spacebar again whenever you felt like stoping and hitting Ctrl + Spacebar would playback again from measure "X".

This should be easy to implement :)

I personally like this way of looking at it - two different versions of the play command to control the start position. But, it should be noted that at least some of the requests are actually for two different versions of the stop command, one that is basically a "pause" so subsequent playback resumes where it left off (the current behavior), and one that clear the paly cursor so the next playback is back to the last position. I am not a big fan of that because it makes me decide too early - at the point where I stop playback, maybe I don't know yet, or am simply not thinking fast enough. But this way of thinking - pause vs stop - is more in line with how traditional recording interfaces are often designed. So I could imagine some being more used to it. But I'd still vote in favor of the two play commands over the two stop commands.
