Can't get voices to work

• Jan 8, 2015 - 22:36

Hi,
I'm hoping that someone can help me. I am entering a vocal piano score and need to add 2 voices to the vocal line. I followed what it syas to do in the video tutorials: select a start note, press "N" for note entry mode, click on "voice 2" icon.
According to the video tutorial, the cursor should turn green at that point. It does not.
Can anyone help?
I'm using Version 1.3

Hi Mark,

I don't have a copy of v1.3 any more but I just tried this in v2.0 beta 2. Even in the latest version the cursor doesn't go green until you actually start to type some notes. (Perhaps it should and this is a bug!)

Anyway, click "Voice 2" and then type some notes (press A - G on the keyboard or add them manually with a mouse). The notes should be green even if the cursor is still blue. If that doesn't work try adding the notes to Voice 1 as normal, then select them all (Ctrl+A) and go to "Edit -> Voices -> Exchange Voices 1 and 2".

Hope that helps!

The directions should work if you follow them precisely. But it's possible there is something specific issue with your score. Please post it and describe *precisely* what you are doing - in particular, which note you click.

If the note you click is in a measure that does not already have mutliple voices, then the moment you change to voice "2" (while in note entry mode), then not only does the cursor (the vertical bar) turns green, but it also moves back to the beginning of the measure. If there are already notes in voice 2, results can differ. Results can also differ if you previously entered notes into voice 2 then delete them - this leaves "holes" in the score. That's why it will help to see your specific score and the precise steps you are following.
