Problem with 2 voices when there is only one in reality

• Feb 17, 2015 - 23:38

I often scan a partition using an outside application typically ScoreMaker.
Once the scanning is done, I transport the data as a musicXML file to
MuseScore to further edit it.
Although the partition has only 1 part/voice, sometimes, MuseScore
assigns some notes to voice 2 in a staff. I try to correct it using edit-> voice-> 1<->2
then other notes in the same bar becomes voice 2. Problem not solved.
Q1: Would it be possible to change only a few notes selected in a bar from voice 2 to 1?
Q2: Would it be possible to force all notes in a staff to belong to voice 1 when importing
a musicXML file?

I am now using musescore 2 beta running on mac OS X

Given that there is no way for MuseScore to know what to do with notes already in voice 1 when moving notes, the general answer is, no, it is impossible to move notes from voice to voice and have it work in all cases.

That said, the current nightly builds do allow a limited form of this, just select notes while not in note input mode and press a voice button. If it can be mvoed without in any way inmpacting any other notes, it will be done.

BTW, MuseScore doesn't "assign" notes to voices - it's just doing what the MusicXML file asks for. So more to the point would be to see if there is a way to convince your OMR software to put everything into voice 1.
