no list of sounds in mixer dropdown

• Apr 17, 2015 - 19:18

I have used version 1.3 on windows for a while and found it wonderful! Recently I installed version 2 and since i could not change the language (nothing in drop down menu) I deleted and reinstalled version 2 (presumably a different version) today.

Now, I do have dropdown for languages, but there is no dropdown for sounds in the mixer (F10).

The dropdown is there in the nightly snapshot 2015-04-16-1745-08149c9

I version 1.3 still available for download somewhere? I want to send a file to a friend who is not an experienced computer user and today I can not recommend version 2.0 to him.

Thank you, Shoichi, for your comments.

I do not really see how the first link correlates to my problem. I do not want to change something. I expect the "stable version" to work out of the box as described in the manual.

Your second link does not offer to download the 1.3 version for windows, only for Mac.

The stable version *does* work out of the box, if you are installing it fresh. Most llkely, it is old settings leftover from a previous experimental nightly build that caused 2.0 to *not* work out of the box for you. That is, only the people who risked installing nightly builds are likely to see any sort of problem. And the problem should be easily solved by performing a reset to factory settings (running from command line with "-F" option).

No, I deinstalled and installed it twice with restart of my computer and complete delete of all folders.

No, I installed the nightly built only AFTERWARDS, in the hope to continue my work. I have never had a nightly built before.

No, I tested that.

Well, *something* is off on your system, because it really does work out of the box. Your original description said you downloaded the release version, and the only issue you had then was languages, right? Did you downlaod the language updates?

I think after that, it is the released version that is now interfering with your nightly ratehr than the other way around. But hard to say. What do the paths say in Edit / Preferences? o those folders exist?

Hello Marc,

> Your original description said you downloaded the release version, and the only issue you had then was languages, right? Did you downlaod the language updates?

No, reset it to standard settings (did not work), then deinstalled it and installed it again. With the new installation the languages were there, and it automatically displayed my language, but the instruments were gone.

The nightly is working fine, I will continue to use this version.

My posting was rather thought as a bug report. But if you know tell me, that musescore has no bugs and everything that goes wrong just goes wrong on my computer, so be it.

Of course there are bugs - this is a whole issue tracker full of them. WHat I am saying saying is that normally, sounds do work out of the box unless there are conflicting settings. And since you installed 2.0 then deinstalled it and then installed a nightly build (as well as perhaps another attempt at the 2.0 installation), it seems quite apparent that this would explain what you are seeing - conflicting settings between the official 2.0 installation (deinstalling does not remove settings) and your nightly build installation. That is why I asked you specific questions to help resolve the problem. So again - what paths show in Edit / Preferences (for Soundfont, in particular), and do these folders in fact exist? If so, what do you see in those folders?

> That is why I asked you specific questions to help resolve the problem.

That is ok, thank you for trying to help me! But I have deinstalled 2.0 and am now using the nightly built which works fine. So there is no need to help me at the moment and also I can not tell you what I see in which folders.
