Voltas-- first and second endings
I'm just transcribing some music into MuseScore and have come to a first time ending (then second time ending) where the volta begins on the fourth beat of the bar.
Is that correct notation? I always thought that such endings started at the beginning of a bar and ended at the end of a bar, ie complete bars, never parts of a bar.
Which is the correct notation please?

Voltas never normally start anywhere but the beginning of the bar. But that doens't mean some composer, arranger, or publisher woud either deliberately or unwittingly violate that. There is almost no chance the musicians reading this would interpret it as expected, so I suggest you convert it to the usual / correct notation.
