Musescore don't start at all on iBook

• Jun 11, 2010 - 07:44

Hi,

I wanted to test the new version 0.9.6 on my iBook, but it does't start at all.
The version 0.9.5 is working without problems.
The iBook has MacOS 10.4.11, G3 processor and is in perfect condition.
Maybe the G3 isn't supported any more? This would be very disappointing, because this 9yrs old baby still is a great working tool and is fun to use.
I had the same problem with the newest version of stellarium.

William,
sorry, I‘m not an English speaker:
I had a little problem after installing 0.9.6 over 0.9.5 on my Mac, too.
It seemed the preferences had a path set to a folder, that wasn’t existing any more. If that‘s the reason for your problem, try to reset them to the default values.
Having said so, if MuseScore doesn‘t start at all on your machine, try to delete the preference file directly.
Now can somebody please step in and say, where the preference file is stored?

Thanks so far. I followed your instructions, but the folder in the library is empty,
~/.config/muse.org/MuseScore.ini couldn't be found (the finder in my iBook doesn't seem to find anything at all, this is something I'll have to research)
and terminal said:

William,

If you (in the Finder) go to the "Go" Menu, from there into "Go to Folder..." and then paste the path into that field:

~/.config/muse.org/

So type or paste this into that field, press "Go" and you will be instantly connected to that (hidden) Folder, where you can access/delete the MuseScore.ini file.

The folder is hidden through the dot in front of config ".config"

great. So many things I don't know after working with computers more than 20 ys....

I followed your instructions. But it made no difference - when trying to open musescore, the dock symbol blinks once, then - nada.
I suspect the system is somewhat currupt, because spotlight and finder don't work at all on that computer.
Musescore 0.9.5 still working.

this sounds like something more serious, take
it as a gentle warning.
Start with backing up any important data.
Then open your "Disk Utility" application to first repair your "Disk Permissions" and
then to check your harddisk. If you see
problems there, start up your iBook from the original Installation disk, but just
to repair your harddisk (the "Disk Utility" application is available here, too).

Hi,

stupid, it was wrong settings in spotlight...
But musescore still refuses to open on my iBook, ven after I have done everything that was suggested.
Is version 0.9.6 really working at all with a PPC G3?
Anyone?

I have the same problem as William with my G3 iBook and Musescore 0.9.6.3. Crash log:
Command: mscore
Path: /Applications/MuseScore.app/Contents/MacOS/mscore
Parent: WindowServer [62]
Version: 0.9 (0.9.6.3)
PID: 861
Thread: Unknown
Link (dyld) error:
Library not loaded: @executable_path/../Frameworks/libsndfile.1.dylib
Referenced from: /Applications/MuseScore.app/Contents/MacOS/mscore
Reason: no suitable image found. Did find:
/Applications/MuseScore.app/Contents/MacOS/../Frameworks/libsndfile.1.dylib: no matching architecture in universal wrapper
/Applications/MuseScore.app/Contents/MacOS/../Frameworks/libsndfile.1.dylib: no matching architecture in universal wrapper

As it seems that 0.9.6 doesn't run on a G3, I wanted to download 0.9.5 but couldn't find it anywere.
