MuseScore in Minutes captions: video 5 - 11

• May 26, 2015 - 08:05

I'm looking for assistance to create captions for the MuseScore in Minutes video tutorials. Currently video 1-4 have captions but we lack the captions for video 5-11. The first step to create the captions is to simply make an English transcript of the video. Is there someone who wants to help with this?

All you need is a text editor and you play the youtube video while typing out the transcript. Youtube allows you to slower the speed of the video which comes in handy.

Once the transcript is made, it's a small step to create captions from them via the youtube interface. Next the captions will be uploaded to our translation server at Transifex so the community can translate them. Finally, the translated captions are uploaded back to youtube on the MuseScoreHowTo channel.

By offering captions, both in English as well as other languages, we drastically lower the barrier for newcomers to learn how to use MuseScore.

Wouldn't it be quite handy to get those captions directly from the horses mouth, i.e. ask Dr. George Hess for them? Most probably he had a script for producing them.

George has a transcript to lead him through the video, but he gives himself the freedom to deviate from it. As I did the captioning of the first 4 videos myself, I learnt that doing the transcripts from scratch was easier as opposed to fixing the ones I received.
