instrument changes pitches
I am inputting notes for a bassoon sonata and suddenly, 30 measures into the piece, when I copy and paste, the paste comes in an octave lower. When I transpose up an octave, it of course plays an octave higher than the notes were in the beginning of the pieces. So a concert D above the staff in the bass clef, when copied and pasted, pastes to the D in the middle of the staff but plays the same pitch as the one above the staff. HELP! Thank you.

Where are you copying from, what are you copying, where are you pasting it? Attach the score, please.

I'm copying the bassoon line from measures 3-6, and pasting to measures 30-33

It's due to the bass clef 8va from the measure 23, while the bassoon line in measures 3-6 is in bass clef

Yes, it appears when you changed to tenor clef and then tried to change back to bass clef, you must have accidentally applied the wrong clef. Simply replace it with the normal bass clef.

I have tried all the bass clefs with no correction happening. Some take it to the stratosphere.

You want the simple ordinary bass clef with no number above or below. Of cours,e if you already have notes entere,d they are in the wrong octave - as the playabck should confirm - so you will need to transpsoe those by selecitng them and Ctrl+Up/Down as appropriate.

Sometimes F Clef 8va/b bugs out...simply put correct clef as stated above, if it jumps down or up where it doesnt belong, highlight the section using shift+s and transpose by "perfect" octave up or down. Repeat if needed. till the line is in the right pocket.
