Web standard in progress for music notation!

• Jul 29, 2015 - 16:55

http://createdigitalmusic.com/2015/07/next-web-standard-music-notation/ — please folks from this community need to get involved in this ASAP. We can't let the process be governed by only proprietary software makers and proprietary publishers. Musescore and LilyPond should have central roles here.

Overall, looks promising to move MusicXML to a neutral web standard or something.

Comments

We are part of the MusicXML community since 2005 and have been attending most of the European MusicXML gathering over the past years. During the last gathering, we've spend some effort to record the last gathering, although the quality could be better.

We weigh in as much as we can but MuseScore's main contributions are
* to provide an open source MusicXML renderer which can run on the command line and which has been used by several startup companies and research groups
* to provide unprecedented access to MusicXML files via the musescore.com community
