MuseScore 2.0.2 blocked with W8.1

• Jul 30, 2015 - 14:41

Hello and thank you for your time.

I downloaded MusiScore months ago and it was working perfectly.

Today, I cannot open MusicScore! and...
My computer is completely blocked! The only thing I can do it is a hard switch off!

Even Ctrl-Alt-Del does not work! The cursor does not move!

I think no report about this recent bug !

Note I uninstalled and reinstalled twice, standard and portable version... same bug!

Thank you for your comment.

W 8.1 on HP BeatsAudio.

Best Regards - José

Hello, thank you for your feedback.

I do not know which version I downloaded and if/when it has been updated.
Today, I uninstalled the existing version and I downloaded the current version (as it is not possible to find the previous version!)

I tried your idea, same bug!
I tried " -F" from a command line, same bug!

Very repeatable bug, 3 seconds after I launch the MuseScore command, screen is completely freezed and keyboard/mouse become inefficient!
MuseScore does not open.

I noted this in your link:

For advanced users, the main preference file is located at:
Windows Vista or later: C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\MuseScore\MuseScore2.ini

in

C:\Users\José\AppData\Roaming\MuseScore

no .ini file, the repertory is empty!?

Note I launched MuseScore as Administrator, same bug!

Thank you again for your help.

Best Regards - José (France).

Hello Marc,

Thank you for your time.
No impact, same bug.

I close all Chrome tasks, same bug.

You are right, this issue could come from another program but which one :)

I have another concern, why I don't have a musicscore.ini file???

How can I got a previous Musicscore's version?

Thank you again, José (France).

The problem described seems to be the same as one I experienced for months - the 'opening of MS led to a complete freeze of my PC, including the cursor - the only solution was to turn off the machine and reboot (and not open MS). However, about a week ago, when I downloaded 2.0.2 again, it asked me to "repair" during the run of the downloaded file and , since then, I can now open 2.0 without a crash. I do still have a problem with a 1.3 file (which is very large) - after opening the file to attempt to edit and correct it in the new format, I get about 20 seconds to make changes and then the score freezes for between 5 and 10 minutes, I then get another 15-20 seconds before another 5-10 minute "crash". It will take weeks, if I have the patience, to effect the changes and corrections. At least, it doesn't affect the rest of my PC.

Regarding your problem with a particular 1.3 score - feel free to start a new thread and attach the score as well as describe the steps to reproduce the problem. Could be there is a bug that needs fixing, could just be a fact of life that MuseScore can be slow when working with extremely large scores, especially on less powerful computers.

Now everything is ok thank to... Windows 10.

I upgraded my W8.1 to 10 and MuseScore 2.0.2 worked perfectly and from the the first time.

Thank you for your time.
