[SOLVED] Invisible Rests Made Visible After Measure Split?
I'm still notating the Beethoven Op. 45 marches for piano four-hands. Nos. 1 and 2 are done, and I am on No. 3. A curious thing happened (EDIT: Attachment removed). Again, note that I am using the unsupported Windows 64-bit build.
The 3rd march is a little strange in that it has a sixteenth note pickup. In measure #6, Secondo RH, I added a Voice #2 in order to playback the trill. The little notes are 32nd notes, stemless and invisible. The rest of the bar in Voice #2 are rests, all small and invisible. I need to split this bar before the final sixteenth in order to make the repeats playback correctly (see this thread ). (In the original score, Beethoven put a repeat sign before that final sixteenth.) If I click on the final sixteenth and do Edit -> Measure -> Split Measure, then the rests in Voice #2 are changed - they are now normal sized and visible.
Just to make sure that I'm not crazy, I made a 2nd file (EDIT: Attachment removed), and in measure #4 I have two voices, with invisible and small rests in Voice #2. I clicked on the final sixteenth in measure #4, and do Edit -> Measure -> Split Measure, and I get the same result -- the rests in Voice #2 are normal sized and visible.
Really, this is not a big deal, but I'm just curious if this is a bug, or something by design, etc. I did a quick search on this forum and I didn't see anything like my question. I'm very grateful for the work of the Musescore developers and I'm just trying to help -- hence this post. ^.^

Splitting a measure does requite re-writing it, and that can mean some of the properties of the original notes or rests might be lost.
BTW, as of 2.0.2, you don't need to add hidden voices to have trills playback.
Okay! I'll just have to remember the split the measure before inputting the notes, then. O.o
As for the trills, yes, I know that they play back, but they do not play back the way that I prefer (starting from the upper note), so I'll continue torturing myself and add the hidden notes. ^o^

Click the trill, then go to the Inspector and change the style from Default to Baroque, then they will play back from the upper note. Doesn't work for all ornaments, but it does for trills.
As for splitting the measure, you kind of need to add the notes first or you won't have a palce to split, but do the split before any fancy formatting, yes.
Aha, I overlooked the style option under the Inspector! Many thanks! I was able to remove some of the hidden notes for the trills, but alas, not all. I re-attached the 3rd march; if you look at measure #12, both trills do start on the upper note, but it's starting from C-sharp instead of C-natural. O.o I'm probably overlooking something here. ^.^

C# is in the key signature, so the algorithm apparently thinks that is what you want. Technically, you should probably add a natural sign to the trill, but that won't affect playback. It's not perfect indeed.

That's what I thought... oh well. At least I won't have to put in hidden notes for some of the trills. ^.^
