Convert hairpin crescendo to "cresc." dashed line

• Aug 20, 2015 - 21:56

It's fairly common to see in a piece of music, instead of a hairpin, something like this:

cresc.   -     -     -     -     -     -     -     -

(Likewise, by the way, with dim. instead of cresc.)

This can be simulated in MuseScore, but it's a rather time-consuming process involving creating a custom line which ends up not looking quite right anyway:

cresc.-----------------------------

—plus, there is (at least for now) #69836: Changes to text line not reflected in linked parts.

I'd like to see a simple Inspector option to change a hairpin into a text-line type of dynamic.

Thoughts?

I don't like the idea of an Inspector option that changes an element into something completely different. I'd rather simply see the desired line symbol made available, with the same playback semantics as a hairpin. I guess the difference you are concerned with is wider spacing of dashes? That much could be an Inspector settings, or just a different line style.
