Removing "hidden" Lyric lines.

• Sep 14, 2015 - 15:28

I have created two lines of lyric to a section (4 bars). I want to remove the upper line. I have managed to remove all the text but the space occupied has not been removed. I have tried to find the little box which held the word but cannot. How do I select and get rid of this unwanted line gap between the staves.

File attached (the unwanted lines are measures 9 - 12, 13 - 15 above existing text) Take The 'A' Train.mscz.

Thanks.

@happyhacker, I try to explain (you try to understand).
I click on the syllable (line 2);
Hold down Shift and use Right Arrow to select ;
Ctrl + X;
Up Arrow;
Ctrl + V;
Down Arrow (next syllable) and repeat Ctrl + X / Ctrl + V.

But, as Jojo says, maybe it's easier to rewrite

There are times that you might want an empty lyric in the top line. Examples:

  • The song has two verses that are slightly different.
  • The second line is a translation of the first and it doesn't quite fit the rhythm in the new language.

But I accept that there could probably be an easier way to move lyrics between lines.
