Section break causes long delay in playback

• Oct 18, 2015 - 00:19

I'm using MS 2.0.2 in Windows 10 Pro. I tried using a section break in a new score instead of just a line or page break there. It caused playback to have a very long delay at the break. Is this expected behavior?

I didn't want the delay, so I had to switch to a line break.

Yes, this is the expected behavior. The whole point of section breaks is to separate movements of a larger work (symphony, etc) where the break would be normal. You can adjust the length of the break by right clicking it and choosing "Section Break Properties".

Line breaks are totally different. All they do is start a new line; they don't do any of the other things a section break does (suppress courtesy signatures, start measure numbering over, use long instrument names, etc). You should use the proper tool for the job - line break to break line, section break to separate movements.

I've just started making some real use of MuseScore ... I can see that this issue has been raised, but not clear if anything is happening about it ... the pause on a section break plays when it shouldn't if there's a repeat. Obviously the pause can be set to zero, but then there isn't one at the true section end.
