Clefs that cannot be deleted

• Jan 7, 2011 - 11:27

Hi to all MuseScore users
I' m using the software only for a week now, and I must admit I'm thrilled, comparing it to the Cubase that I used to work with. It's simple and very comprehensible, so I have to congratulate the maker.

One thing I wanted to ask is:
In the upper staff of a piano piece (I mean the treble-clef staff), I have put a bass-clef in between the notes, and I now want to erase it (the bass-clef) since I've changed the notes and it's not needed any more. Still, my attempts fail. Either clicking on the bass-clef and pressing "delete", or dragging on it a treble clef from the palette, will be of no effect.
I' m quite surprised with this situation, since I' m sure I made such changes yesterday while experimenting on MuseScore.

I hope that someone will advice me about what I do wrong.

Thank you very much in advance.

Try selecting the unwanted clef and then cutting it by pressing Ctrl+x (Cmd+x on a Mac). The delete key doesn't seem to have any function in MuseScore, I always have to use Cmd+x to get rid of unwanted notes. Not sure if this will work, but it's worth a shot.

quantumzombiez, your issue is a matter of lingo differences between Windows and Mac. On Windows there are two keys: one is called Backspace and the other is called Delete (or forward delete). Macs do not always make this distinction and many Mac keyboards do not even show the forward delete key. If you do not not have a forward delete key or your Mac then use the combination Fn+Backspace as explained here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delete_key
