Help lines cannot be hidden

• Jan 30, 2011 - 14:48

As you can see and hear in the attached file :
In my score I wanted to have a trill written with one note and the symbol "tr" above it, and be able to hear it sound like a real trill.
So, I created a series of short B and C# notes, made them invisible and in their place I put a single B in voice 2.
All went well, except that I cannot find a way to hide the help lines above the staff.

Any recommendations? They keep showing on my screen and in my print-outs as well.
It'a a pity to have a score looking like the one I have uploaded.

Thank you very much.

After a week with no answer to my question and no suggestions whatsoever, I guess there's no remedy for the help lines that refuse to hide.
I find it odd, though, since there is no problem with hiding notes, stems, text etc.
Maybe our friend Iasconic could give me a definitive yes or no on the subject... just to save me from trying my luck and waste my time aimlessly.

I'm not sure how well this will work in this case, but I'll tell you how I've handled similar situations in other programs when I have had issues where I wanted it one thing for notation but something different for playack and there didn't seem to be any way to get that directly. What I would do is have an extra staff (or several) just for playback, and set those staves to be hidden. Enter the trill however you like it to sound on the hidden playback staff, then enter the notes how you want them to *look* on the original staff and reduce the volume of those notes to zero (select a range of notes, right click, note properties, set velocity to be type "user" and value "0").

I understand exactly what you mean, Marc, and in fact this is trully an effective way to overpass the problem. Still, I must say that my way works perfectly as well (hiding the short trill notes is really easy, while squeezing them together proved a bit tricky). The problem occured only with the ledger lines that do not allow hiding, as Iasconic said.
Anyway, I have to thank you for your concern. I will try the extra staff that you suggested, to see if it proves an easier method.
