Crescendo playback
Hi y'all,
I searched for this and found a few posts on it, but everyone seemed to say that this feature was supposed to be already implemented in the new version.
I have a string line. On the first note, I have a pp dynamic, and I also have a hairpin crescendo, which extends through to the last note of the line, which has a mf dynamic mark.
When playing it back, MuseScore plays the first note as pp and then immediately jumps to mf on the second note, remaining there for the rest of the line.
Is there a way to get the volume to gradually increase over the length of the crescendo?
I tried messing with the "Velocity Change" value in the Inspector for the hairpin, but it made no difference.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Did you extend the crescendo merely by dragging it with the mouse, or did you actually move the anchor point (in edit mode) as per:

(Posting the actual score would help...)
Regards.

If I am going to take a guess, he wants the crescendo to work over the duration of the first note as it goes to the second note.
I just dragged the mark with the mouse.
I've attached the score. The specific phrase in question is during measures 18-19.
Thanks!

dragging is just wrong. Double click and use shift right to extend it functionally, dragging extends it just visually. See https://musescore.org/en/handbook/hairpin-0#edit-hairpin
It still won't won't affect the velocity of a single note, but ii will change velocity graually from note to note in the span

Oh ok, great. I'll give that a shot, thanks!
So I guess it's not possible to have a single note swell or decay in volume at this point?

Correct. Changing dynamics during a single note requires advanced MIDI processing that MuseScore does not support.

Ok, great. Thanks for the info!

Brilliant! That worked like a charm!
Thanks so much.
