Mutes and Other Sounds
Happy New Year, everyone.
In May of 2012 there was an interesting thread about the ability to switch sounds, specifically for muted brass (of which I am interested), but also of other useful sounds such as pizzicato strings. I have done the switch for muted trumpets before, but it only does a straight mute. Having the ability to do a cup mute and a harmon mute (with and without stems) would be a great addition.
What became of this idea?

You can change to any sound you like, if you have a soundfont installed that provides that sound. General MIDI defines only a single muted trumpet sound, so most GM-compatible soundfonts provide just one. But no doubt there exist speciasl-purpose soundfonts out there in the world containing more muted sounds, and once you have installed one as described in the Handbook under "Soundfont", you can use it as described in the handbook under "Change and adjust sounds" and/or "Mid-staff instrument change".
