Beam from 16th note to 8th note
I recently figured out how to put a space in between eighth notes using beam properties. However, I have run into another issue. If I type in a 16th note and then an 8th note there won't be a beam connecting them. I really need there to be one so is this possible and if so how would I go about doing this.
Also, I was trying to separate eighth notes that were in the format LLLL, to LL LL. However, the best I can do is LL L L is there anyway to connect the second pair?

select the 8th note and double-click the appropriate symbol in the palette, does not work?

If you read the Handbook under "Beam", also under "Time signature", it explains in some detail how to change the beaming, both how to change the defaults and how to override them.
if there is a particular score where you are having problems getting something to work, please post the score itself (not just a picture of it) and describe what you want to see happen, what you are doing, and what is happening. Someone should be able to show you what is going wrong. But it should generally be as simple as clicking a note and double clicking one of the beam icons - beam start or beam middle - to break or join a beam. if the previous note is set to "no beam" (because you set it that way; it would never be that way by default), then you will have to reset it to Auto before it will be allowed to join to the next note.
