Sample::decompressOggVorbis
I am struggling to install a working notation system. It was hard to find musescore, installed via a package (first finding out the name of the repository was all afternoon; secondly there was no musescore installed anywhere)
I have got to trying mscore, which ran as root and offered tutorial material.
Tried as me and it crashed with the message
"Sample::decompressOggVorbis: open failed: File contains data in an unimplemented format."
which means noting to me.
If I start with -n for new it asks about key, time sig and length and then says the same thing.
What do I do next?

What OS (operating system) are you running?
Are you trying to import an OggVorbis 'sound' file into MuseScore?

If so, be advised that MuseScore is primarily a music notation app with playback capabilities. It is not an audio processor suited for importing and rendering 'sound' files. (Though, MIDI instruction files can be imported.)
What is your desired use and end result?

The download page said I had to use a multimedia:musescore repository, but there was no such found in yast2. It took detective work to convert that to a URL

I thought I said: OpenSuSE: a distro of Linux, actually in 64bit mode

No. I was wanting to transcribe an old paper score into digital domain, and generate either MIDI or Csound.
I did not try to import anything. The software I used to use for this no longer compiles (circa 1996; ran well on SGI) and I am seeking a replacement. Musescore was recommended by two Csound users.

Which version of OpenSuse are you running exactly?
It looks like there is a packaging error for this version. Can you ignore the libogg warning? If no, you could try to run mscore -s

OpenSuSE 13.2 x86_64 installed via yast2 from multimedia:musescore repository
No I cannot ignore the libogg message as it segfaults immediately afterwards.
mscore -s seems to work in as far as I transcribed a short song; now stuck on unrelated issue of how to correct the title/composer headings
