Guitar scordatura
Is there a cute way of placing scordaturas at the start of a guitar piece? At present I have to associate the string number (number in a circle) with a note in the score and then append the '= D' or whatever as a separate piece of text. This can jump around or be lost during editing.

Dougie, According to me there is nothing wrong with the procedure you described.
I am doing this also without a problem of jumping around or loosing it.
There is also the possibility to use just staff text : Create – Text – Staff Text and
put only a text like : 6th string to D.
Joe.

I can see that that would work, but I'm an old fogey and would like my scores to look as others do. Your suggestion has concentrated my mind! I can see that what I specifically need is that pressing F2 during text entry should offer string numbers in circles and '=' signs among the other options - that would be ideal. Thanks again.

O.K., Of course what you are asking as an extra feature would be wonderful, but
you wrote: ‘This can jump around or be lost during editing’ and I did not face that
particular problem in MuseScore.
Joe.
Should this be an issue?
@Dougie: Can you give steps to reproduce? Please see: http://musescore.org/en/developers-handbook/how-write-good-bug-report-s…

Simple. Associate the string number in a circle with some note near the start of the piece, because you have to associate it with some note or other, there being no other way to enter that character (it's fingering). Many moons later when you've forgotten all about that, go back and move or delete the note the text is linked to. Whoops! It's gone, or lt no longer aligns nicely with the '=D' or whatever other text you patched in beside it.
