How do you insert ukulele fretboard diagrams

• 2019年02月3日 22:16

Please add the option to add ukulele fretboard diagrams for chords. I see guitar chord fretboard diagram option ukulele-chord-chart.jpg ukulele-chord-chart.jpg , but not for ukulele. Please add this feature.

I tried to enter on the tab option, but that is extremely time consuming and doesn't really look the way we need it to.

See this palette of diagrams for ukulele. You have only to load it in the program: Ukulele Chords.mpal
(you need to add a custom workspace for this)
NB: and for edition (frets, strings etc.), it's doable now in the Inspector, not in context menu as in versions 2.X

"Cannot read file /Users/SpencerHome/Desktop/Ukulele Chords.mpal:
unknown type." Any suggestions for how to get it to read your file?"

A file with the extension .mpal does not open in the same way as you other .mscz files
Assuming that you have created a custom workspace (which allows you to create or edit palettes), you must first open the program, then right-click on an existing palette -> Load palette > Open the desired palette.

I did all that, however, when I Cmd+Shift/Drag the revised Uke diagram (4 strings) to the Custom palette, it reverts to 6 strings and the dots are in the wrong place.

I found some .mpal Uke files here on the Forum, which work great, and I can use them. BUT I'm trying to make diagrams for Baritone Uke, which is guitar minus the 2 bottom strings.

I've taken the Uke .mpal file and rt-click on the appropriate diagram to rename it to be a Baritone chord, but when I bring it into my score (MS3+) the Chordname reverts back to the Ukulele chord name, and I have to edit that. [For example, the fretboard diagram for an F chord on a Uke is actually a C chord on a baritone.]

Short of actually getting into the code and changing the names of the Chords to suit Baritones, is there anything else to do for this non-programmer, other than changing the chord name every time I add one to my score? (And remembering to do so!)

Hi, I have created a Making Ukulele tabs & notation in Musescore tutorial in my blog and Youtube video (non profit), and I share your mpal file link and shows how to use it in my tutorial, I should ask for your permission before that, please let me know if you are not ok for it and I will remove it immediately, sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Yes, your example shows what I am looking for. However, when I add a guitar fretboard diagram to a score, the chord name is automatically inserted above the diagram - no need to manually insert the chord name myself. I tried the two .mpal ukulele fretboard palettes described in the message thread above, but neither automatically shows the chord name, just the fretboard diagram, when I use the palette to create the chord diagram in the score. Is this a bug?

Marc: thanks for the suggestion - I made up a simple (21 chords - major, 7th, and mnor) palette of ukulele chords, and they seem to work properly, i.e., the chord symbols appear above the fretboard diagrams. The attached .mpal file is the resulting palette for MuseScore 3.1 and above. I would be grateful if anyone lets me know of any errors.

Can anyone send a link to a fully chromatic ukulele diagram (.mpal) of chords, major/minor/augmented/diminished. This is nice but is not comprehensive - it's missing Bb, Eb, Ab, Db/C#, Gb/F# chord families as well as all augmented and the diminished.

Well, don't forget that these .mpal files were made and joined in a totally unselfish way by other users, such as yourself. It's not a big deal to complete and customize this ukulele chords palette. There are multiple resources on the web (such as this one, put online by a french ukulele player: https://tontonremy.com/ukulele/accords/page46/page46.html).
And once this is done, we'll all be all happy if you share this/your completed palette :)
