system.stave seperation
so i have a set of winds and a set of strings, with the stave spacer i can space the two sets of instruments apart from one another but i cant get them to be seperate entities, winds and strings as seperate systems. anyone know how to remedy this? im pretty new to musescore but its a great program esp. cuz its free.

I'm not sure what exactly you mean by this. Are you just looking to bracket your wind and string staves together? See http://musescore.org/en/handbook/bracket in the handbook. But perhaps you're wondering how to get the extra space you've inserted between the groups of staves to remain in effect throughout the score, as opposed to having to create this space system by system? That does not seem to be possible currently. I see there are new spacer options in the next major version as reflected in the nightly builds (the so-called "trunk"), but I don't know what they do. I'm hoping one will turn out to create score-wide space between systems.

thats what i meant. so like theres a wind quartet and a string quintet on the same page., the line that starts the stave runs continuous throughout the page. i just wanted to make the wind quartet and the string quintet be seperate. i can make the line invisible but then i have no line starting my staves. it seems like things get done here and theres a lot of involvement with making things work. this is pretty basic so it should show up in a later version. for now i did use the brackets, it does the trick, i can always white out the in between line and photocopy my stuff. i figured id have to do some amending in the analog fashion but it sure beats shelling out all the $$ for finale.
thank you very much

Oh, you're talking about something different, it seems to me. I had been talking amount vertical space between staves; you are now talking about the left barline at the start of the system. It would *not* be traditional to have that left barline be broken up in the way you describe - someone reading the score would have no way of knowing the staves were in fact all meant to go together. But for barlines *after* the one on the left, you can double click a barline in the top staff of the group and drag it down to connect the other staves in the group, and do this separately for the wind and stirng groups so there is a breka between them. That much is common.
