Position of Grace notes. (enquiry, not problem)

• Oct 28, 2015 - 22:35

I have been transcribing some scores for friends, and have come across a passage where the grace note is positioned across the bar line to the note. (example attached)
Does this make a difference to the musical sound of the piece in question?
I have listened to that part of the piece with the grace note before the bar line, and after the bar line, and I cannot hear any difference to the melody.
Not being as knowledgeable as I'd like in music, would like to know if there is a reason for positioning grace notes as such.

Thank you.

The norm for grace notes would be immediately before the note it attaches to - so, after the barline. Can you show a picture of the actual score you are concerned with? Could be it is something else going on, like a trill ending as opposed to a grace note (they look similar).
