B flat clarinet is discordant in woodwind quartet
I have no knowledge of orchestral instruments, only piano.
I am transcribing a woodwind quartet score into MuseScore: flute, oboe, b flat clarinet, and bassoon.
The key signature for is D major (2 sharps) except for the b flat clarinet which is E major (4 sharps). [I mention the number of sharps in case they aren't what they appear to be in orchestration scoring!]
But the clarinet is discordant when all instruments are playing together. In a way, this would make sense since, for example, the oboe is playing A at the same time as the clarinet is playing G. But, I guess this isn't actually happening in the mysterious world of orchestras!
Please could you help?

Second, answers...
1) I'm sorry, I don't know the difference.
2) It's the one that comes with MS. I suspect I'm the one that's out of tune!
3) I'll post it (if I can work out how). It's not complete.

OK, if the score in in D Major, the clarinet should bindeed e written in F Major.
You somehow managed to lose the transpositioning by a major second.
Now you can toggle between concert pitch and transposing pitch

I really cannot thank you enough.
I'd actually sent you the version where I'd replaced the 4 sharps in the clarinet part (which were discordant) with 2 sharps (which sounded exactly the same).
I think MuseScore is amazing (and have donated). But I'm aware of my own knowledge short-comings and will try to address them. I will look up concert pitch and transposing pitch, for starters. This is mystifying for me at the moment.
