Top staff won't space like the rest

Any chamce of attaching the score concerned so we can see what the problem is?

Seeing the score would indeed help. But my guess is you entered the soprano lyrics as a second verse - the extra space between the staff and the lyric suggests there is room for another verse. This would happen if you hit enter or maybe down arrow while entering the lyric, and you should be able to see it by double clicking a word and hitting up arrow.
