Problem with translating the handbook
If I compare http://musescore.org/en/handbook and http://musescore.org/de/handbuch they look pretty OPK translation wise, but
http://musescore.org/en/handbook/handbook vs. http://musescore.org/de/handbuch/handbuch does not at all, I can't translate it though, only the top part is editable in either one.
Problem with this is that this is the part that becomes part of the distribution as a PDF.

Oh, I guess I found out myself...
Not fully though, seems I need help with page "grundlagen ", I can't get rid of some duplicate entries as well as add that duplicate entry "kopieren und einfügen " properly

Hey Jojo, here is the result: http://musescore.org/de/handbuch/handbuch
Thanks for your great work!

Thanks for fixing it so the couple hours I spent today updating the german handbook weren't wasted.
Hi Jojo, I have some questions.
It appears that you made series of German handbook pages which are not made via the translation system. Here is the list:
Edit: removed the links so search engines will not try to index them
These pages are currently floating in the system as orphan pages. Normally, I remove them, but before I do, I wanted to check it with you. Can you confirm this is ok?
In reply to Questions by Thomas
Oh, sorry, these seem to have been my failed attempts to create child pages. I've now verified that none of the above are needed and made some corrections to the real pages...
So yes, please go ahead and delete them.
Sorry for the mess...
So far I have left one page untranslated: [[nodetitle:Layout und Formatierung (englisch)]]
Traslating it is pretty difficule and also would requite several new images, and I think in its current english form it is still better than leaving it out.
What would you think?
In reply to Please delete them by Jojo-Schmitz
That's fine I guess. At least, people will be able to read something even though it might not be translated yet.

Thanks for confirming my line of thought ;-)
Would there be a way to integrate How-Tos into the Handbooks?
In reply to Thanks for confirming my line by Jojo-Schmitz
We have been experimenting with how-tos and tutorials to see how we can further extend the knowledge base on musescore.org. Currently, we have no intention to integrate it in the handbook. We saw both content types (tutorial, howto) as being non translatable and authored in a more personal way.
Having said this, nothing is written in stone and we might rethink a few things for the MuseScore 2.0 handbook. We will start a new handbook 2.0 initiative as soon as we have an alpha release for MuseScore 2.0.

OK, fair enough.
Note that at least two How-Tos have been translated though:
http://musescore.org/en/node/8535 vs. http://musescore.org/de/node/8610
http://musescore.org/en/node/8422 vs. http://musescore.org/de/node/8609
Shouldn't tutorials be accessible vie the menu on the upper right hand side?
So far I haven't been aware of their existence...

You can of course translate how to's if you want. They are very valuable. The same for tutorials. On tip: make the title of a how to, really a how to question, so in the same way how people might write it into search engines. This way, more chance that people land on the how to. So I would guess that in German it would start with: Wie machen Sie blah blah or something like it. You tell me.
I'll come back to this topic after we released MuseScore 1.2 since this will be part of the musescore.org redesign effort, as well as MuseScore 2.0 knowledge base initiative.
In reply to Knowledge base initiative by Thomas
A bit difficult due to the double meaning of "How to do something", which could be a question and/or an answer at the same time.
In German it is " Wie macht man etwas?" vs. "Wie man etwas macht."
So the question really is whether 'How to*" is a quesion or an answer.
I'd lean to them being answers, as that might prevent people from entring questions here, but then again there's the issue about how things get searched for.
Can't the tutorials get added to the menus right away?
