Sound when I input a note
Hey everyone,
I've been using Musescore for a while now but I have recently noticed that sometimes I input a note and Musescore will "play" or "sing" that pitch to me, like it's supposed to, but other times I input a note and no sound arises from it. Can someone direct me as to what I should do to correct this? Thanks!

Hi. No one can answer this with the lack of information you have provided.
List OS, MS version (about Musescore) and give exact steps to reproduce.
Just try it again, and make note of what you are doing when it happens and then share that info.

Sorry, I'm running Musescore 2.0.3 on Windows 10 and I opened up sheet music with a voice line, soprano line, alto line, tenor line, and bass line. I then go to "Note Input", click on it, and then try to input a note into the voice line. When I do that, Musescore allows me to place the note no problem, but no sound comes back at me. If I click really hard on with my mouse when I place the note, a sound comes back to me.
I've attached one of the files that I am having trouble with to this response.

I just created a new file on Musescore to see if I could get the note input sound to work again and this time Musescore was way more responsive with giving me the sound of the note back. There were still instances though where I would click to input an "A" for instance and I would receive no sound back. I would then click harder on my mouse to input the next note and receive a sound back at me. I've attached this file to this comment so maybe you could compare the two files and see what, if anything, is different about them? Thank you.

Try rebooting as Marc suggests, and also try doing your note input using the qwerty keyboard on the computer. (It's easier and faster than using the mouse anyway.)

Thanks guys, I tried rebooting it, but that didn't seem to do anything. I was always one to use the mouse, but I'm going to try to use the Qwerty keyboard as it worked great since I tested it an hour ago.

Ah, glad that worked.
Just a thought, though--do you ever notice your mouse not responding consistently when you use it in other applications? Or--if it's a wireless mouse--is it possible that the battery is low? You mentioned having to 'click really hard' to get a sound out of it, and I've never heard of a mouse with velocity-sensitive keys like a midi-keyboard. Maybe there's dirt in the contact or it's getting old and wearing out...?

PS--As I said, using the computer keyboard for input is much faster than the mouse, but there is one inconvenience you'll get used to dealing with. There's no way to tell the program which octave you want the next note to be placed in, so the program jumps to the nearest octave to the previous note. This is normal. If it results in a note you've just input winding up in the wrong octave, just type SHIFT+ UP ARROW (or DOWN ARROW) to move the note up or down an octave in one step.

I can't reproduce any sort of problem with the score you attached. BI can only guess your system might be becoming overloaded. Rebooting might help. Or maybe if you are using a custom soundfont, change back to the standard one.
