Breaks and spacers

• Apr 18, 2012 - 11:33

Thanks for the help but I tried using the spacer to increase the space between 2 specific staffs. I dragged the spacer to the measure above, then double clicked on the spacer and dragged the end of the space down. This spacer elongates but no additional space is created between the staffs. Any suggestions? (Tried to attach score but unsuccessful twice.)
Thanks,
Sandy Toms

First, it is better to post a reply in the thread you originally started rather than starting a new thread for further discussion of the same problem. And as noted, definitely install the latest version, 1.2.

Second, I specifically advised you *not* to use spacers for this, and explained why. Did you try doing what I suggested?

Third, what went wrong wrong when you tried attaching a file? A common mistake is not to actually hit the Attach button after selecting the file.

Fourth, how far did you drag? You have to start by dragging all the way to the staff below, and only then will further increases start to actually add space.

Here is your original thread, just a bit further down on this same forum: http://musescore.org/en/node/16091

Still not sure what you mean when you say you are dragging "all the way down" - all the way down to the next staff is your *starting poont*. Then you need to keep dragging past there to add more space.

Note spacers don't work if there are multiple staves per system but the bottom one is hidden via Hide Empty Staves. But your original file at least did not appear to be using that facility.
