The various versions of MuseScore can coexist, you should not need to uninstall.

The only problem with that is that when I upgraded from 1.3 to MuseScore 2.0.3 (in Windows 10) it did not change the default program to it's current version for opening MS files.

I fixed it myself, but the new version MuseScore should automatically do it.
