Optimise/ bar width.
In Sibelius, there is a one click operation called 'Optimise'. In Musescore I tend to end up with bars of unequal width, the score looking a mess and a very complicated page formatting menu which I don't understand. Is there a quicker way to improve the layout? Fit to page etc?

What do you mean by optimize here? It's correct and normal for bars to have unequal width - the width of a measure depends on how many notes are in it and their durations, as per the standard rules of music notation. So a measure with just a whole note is smaller than a measure with eight eighth notes. You shouldn't have to do anything to make this happen, it should be correct by default
