How do I get 2 Instruments to play at the same time
I was wondering how I can get a piano to do chords while a base guitar could do base I would like to combine the two I also have a question of, I play saxophone in real life so is there anyway I could use the instruments on musescore for chords and base and then I could play my saxophone for the melody. (I am brand new to musescore so is their anyway for me to do this)

Simply add the instruments you want when you create your score with File / New - click "Choose Instruments" in the wizard where it asks you to select a template. Or if you already have score, just add more instruments with Edit / Instruments. As for playing your saxophone along with the playback, sure, MuseScore won't care what you do while it plays with your score. Play your saxophone, dance, check your email - it's up to you :-)

To further the question, when I add instruments, then add the notes on one instrument line it just puts rests in the other instruments line and won't let me change it. Thereby silencing the other instruments while one is playing. I am also new to musescore. TIA.

Just pressing the 'i' key brings up the instrument menu on my system. Saves going to the top menu.
I don't fully understand the question regarding silent instruments and rests. Personally I just create new lines (staves) and then copy between lines. It's possible to copy whole lines, or even several lines, and then place them on new staves - mark the beginning and end then copy. It's also possible to copy lines from other files/scores. The OP might discover that quickly, plus transposition, and repitching sections up or down an octave or two with a quick key stroke.
It might get more complicated if someone wants two or more instruments on one stave, or to change an instrument on a stave - which is something I'd like to figure out better myself. Example: Flute player - change to piccolo - and back. Could have another stave, but seems wasteful.
The Mixer (View->Mixer or F10 on my system) might also be useful for playback.
For play along loops maybe one should put a repeat in at the end, and somehow make it infinite.
Another technique is to export to Midi, then import the Midi into a DAW. That way it probably helps to have separate instruments, as then they will appear as separate tracks in the DAW - depends a bit on the DAW, but trying to split several instruments out of tracks can be quite hard. The mixers in most DAWs are superior to the one in MuseScore - but it's serviceable. Depends what you want to do!
