I need to make a double dotted 1/4th note into a triplet.
I need to make a double dotted 4th note into a triplet, but when i try to it changes into 3 parts of 16ths. This is very weird because a normal 4th note turned into a triplet makes 3 parts of 8th notes?
I am far from an expert in both theory and musescore, but from what im seeing it seems like theres a part of the measure that just disappears? When creating the double dotted 4th note it doesnt create extra pauses or anything anywhere, it seems like a part of the measure is just gone.
Please help:)
I put at screenshot in, the measure 77 is what it looks like before i change it into a triplet, and measure 65 is what it looks like after.

A dotted 4th is 3*8th already, no need for a triplet. Anyway, selecting a dotted 4th, then doing Ctrl+3 does create 3 8th, not 3 16th.

My musescore seems to think otherwise, if you look at the screenshot ive uploaded with the post.
Keep in mind the 4th note is double dotted. It does create 3 8th notes when i press CTRL+3 on any 4th note or dotted 4th note, however when i select my double dotted 4th note, it creates 3 16th notes.

Indeed, dotted and double dotted is not the same thing. a double dotted 4th has not just 3 8th, 3.5 8th or 7 16th. You'd need to create a custom tuplet, 3 in the space of 3.5, so 6 in the space of 7 or a sixlet, Ctrl+6, and then turn the 6 16th into 3 8th
