Polyrhythms on drums
Hello fellow theorists, my question is simply how do I put 8th notes on the hi hat and 8th triplets on the bass. This is a polyrhythm and so the voices would have to be different, 8th note stems up, triplet stems down. I've tried a few things to no avail. Thanks!

Aha so this isn't something I can do per measure. Because I tried that on an existing score and even though I flipped the stems it still wasn't changing, I guess because there were already stems on other measures facing up. Thanks!

It's not clear what you mean here, but you can use separate voices in one measure or in multiple measures. If you attach the score you are having trouble with and describe the issue in more detail, we can understand and assist better.
