Did factory reset in Musescore, now won't open
I have MuseScore 3.5.2 and I had a problem with the sound where it wouldn't play anything at all when I tried playing back the sheet music. I searched and found that other people have had this problem in the past. I tried adjusting some of the suggested settings but nothing worked. Then I tried doing factory reset of the application because some said that would work.
The factory reset just made things worse. Now when I try to open the program I just see the blue opening window and a black square in the middle of the screen. I can't get past that and have to force quit.
I've tried deleting MuseScore and re-downloading it, but when I opened it, it still had the same problem. Does any one have an idea of how to fix this? Is there anything that can be done?
I'm just gonna have to find a new program if there's no way I can use this one

What OS?
Did you have a previous working version of MuseScore? Which one?

No I've always been on this version and it worked fine before. I'm on Mojave 10.14.3
It sounds like you are on Mac. When the black box appears, press escape and it will close and MuseScore will continue to load. This should only be necessary once after a factory reset.

Wow this worked! Thank you so much!!
The issue with the startup dialog not displaying correctly can also happen on Linux, not sure about Windows. Definitely try hitting Esc regardless of what OS you are on,
But also, it could be the Start Center causing the trouble, if you are on Windows. In that case, try the Repair option in the control panel. Or uninstall/reinstall. And if that doesn't help (or you aren't on Windows), try starting MuseScore by double-clicking a score in your file browsers, and if that works, disable the Start Center on future startup via Edit / Preferences.
