Cannot resize 'preferences' window
When editing my preferences the buttons at the bottom of the window which would allow me to save my preferences does not show up. When I try to resize the window it glitches and does not adjust. Sometimes the entire window will disappear off screen preventing me from using musescore at all, at which point I have to use task manager to close the program.
I am using a brand new laptop, the Acer Swift 1, not sure if that will help figure out the cause. I have tried updating and reinstalling to no avail.
As it is, the program is usable and most features are working correctly.

Which version of MuseScore? And why are you needing to resize the window - is the screen unusually small, or if the dialog unusually big? Are other dialogs, or the toolbar icons, normal sized? How about the score itself - when viewed at 100%, is it the same size as a sheet of paper?

Me too. My score is very small unless I zoom way in. Also I had to increase the pixel size of the note lengths across the top. I am using 3.02.5315. I am using a 4k tv with the monitor set to 1920 x 1080 and scale and layout set to 150%, if that has anything to do with it. I will play around with monitor settings and look for updates. Like the other guy said. The bottom of the screen on the prefrences menu can't be reached to apply changes. In my case I can't add swing.

So I updated to version 3.6.2.548021803 and now I can resize the preference window so that I can apply the change to swing. But I cannot resize the window which pops up and asks me if I want to use the new text style when I first open my score. If I try to resize it it just disappears but is still on my task bar. However I am unable to access it to say yay or nay on the new formatting options. I guess I can live with that. The old formatting looks fine.

Ticking the boxed and hitting Return would Yay it, Esc would Nay it

Based on your description, your system is not reporting the display resolution to MsueScore properly, so you will need to tell MuseScore yourself, by adding "-D 200" (or whatever the actual resolution is) to the command line when starting MuseScore.
