M1 Macs

Hey!

Just wondering if MuseScore is optimized for M1 Macs or if it runs decently under Rosetta 2. Also, will an Apple Silicon native version be part of MuseScore 4?

Comments

It is not optimized roe M1 Mac, it may or may not run under Rosetta.

IIRC the Startcenter and/or Save Online won't work and QML caching needs to get switchted of, the latter should be done in 3.6, the former can be done via the -w commandline option / Prefecences / not using Save online.

Please try it out and report

Whether and how MuseScore will get adapted is yet unclear, no work towards that has been done as of yet, as far as I can tell

I can confirm that Musescore currently runs on my late 2020 macbook pro 13 inch with M1 chip under rosetta 2. I hope that info helps!

I've been working on it on a Mac M1 and it does make like cracking sounds trough the speakers (i hope).
Even when it's still on while i do other stuff, it does weird things and sounds; mostly effective on other applications making noise; my apple music already glitched and froze 3 times the last week and that only happens when i'm transcribing on musescore.
i recommend always saving and closing musescore while not using
