No playback, no synthesiser, no mixer
I have nowhere else to go, this is ridiculous.
One day, I open musescore and the playback functions decides not to work. So I close and reopen a few times- nothing, bearing in mind this was working an 20 minutes ago and essentially nothing changed.
So I found this forum: https://musescore.org/en/node/96811 and nothing on this worked.
While I was troubleshooting, I discovered I had no synthesiser option or volume mixer anymore. So I decided to give up and factory reset. Needless to say it didn't work, and nothing changed.
I then looked and saw no Soundfont in the musescore file and I thought maybe I lost it. Alas, downloading it didn't make a difference, I still have no synthesiser or mixer.
So I uninstalled and reinstalled, deleted as much as I could hoping that a 'hard' reset would work. And I'm now here because nothing changed and I don't know what else to do.

Okay don't worry, I figured it out and it isn't musescore so ignore this

Actually, we'd really like to know what was triggering this for you, as a number of other users report similar issues. We're pretty sure that any time this happens it is a bad interaction with some other program or device driver, but we'd like to know which ones specifically people should be on the lookout for.

I was gifted a Focusrite Scarlett 8i6 3rd gen which was supposedly plug and play, it uses ASIO. When I switched to my normal laptop audio driver, it worked perfectly. I think mine may be faulty but I'm not sure.

My Focusrite Scarlett Solo works as long as it is plugged in to the computer before opening MuseScore. Then select ASIO in the Api menu in I/O.
