Verses ALMOST the same.

If I have a voice on a staff (Sopranos, for example) and they sing a whole note (ooh, for example) the first verse as a backup singer...
But the second verse they sing does not match up on that whole note. (ex: four quarter notes 'blah, blah, blah, blah!) - it's actually more elaborate than that.
How do I write that all in one staff ? So that I can use repeats on the 1st and 2nd verses? I've got the lead melody as the same rhythm, so that's fine. But the back up singers do not sing the same thing both times. Any ideas? Currently, I've skipped the repeating verse idea and just wrote out the 2nd verse completely. Seems redundant.

Ex: 1st verse - (Hoo-ah); 2nd verse - (He took a train to a good book store!)

4 options

  1. Use voices, voice 1 for the 1st verse, voice 2 for the 2nd verse, esp. if the pitches are different
  2. Use Ctrl+Space to separate the sylables of that 2nd verse
  3. see below ;-) (and together with "Hide empty staves")
  4. Use voltas
