Problem in playback
When I try to play, no sound comes out.
The play button is disabled and cannot be pressed.
When I look at PortAudio in the I/O settings, the API, device, etc. are all blank and cannot be selected.
I've tried resetting, restarting the computer, reinstalling MuseScore 3, and using MuseScore 2, but no sound.
I tried the methods described in the FAQ and forum on the MuseScore website and still no sound.
MuseScore 2.3
MuseScore 3.6.2
PortAudio 19.6.0-devel
macOS Catalina 10.15.7

Has sound ever played in MuseScore?
Any other audio (or DAW) apps running in the background?

Three weeks ago, MuseScore had sound.
No other audio apps are running.

Use menu item: Help -> Revert to Factory Settings

I tried that, but it didn't work.

Can you open menu item: View -> Synthesizer and do you see any soundfont?
What kind of hardware -- e.g., any bluetooth speakers/headphones?

I could not press View -> Synthesizer.
I usually use AirPods. I tried switching the output to the built-in speaker, but it won't play.

After switching to the built-in speaker did you re-start MuseScore?
Or...
In the "Preferences" dialog under the I/O tab is a button that says "Restart Audio and MIDI Devices" Clicking this button often fixes audio not playing.
If you have a newer Mac with a touch-bar, you probably already know all too well that it is very easy to accidentally hit the "mute" touch-panel-button while reaching for any key in the upper-right corner of the keyboard. Always try that (touching it to see if it shows the muted icon or not, twice if it does) first!
Restart the Mac in safe mode by holding Shift at start-up time, and then reboot again.

I've tried restarting MuseScore, restarting the audio engine, but that didn't work.
My Mac does not have a touch bar.
I tried starting it in safe mode and that didn't work either.
