Adding rests to lyrics lines
Is there a way to add a rest to the lyrics lines? For instance, you have 3 verses. For instance, in 4/4 time, the 1st verse starts on the eighth note of the pick up measure. But, verse 2 starts on the 1st beat of the next measure. How would you put a rest on, for instance, the eighth note of the pick up measure? The same question goes for words in the verses. I hope this makes sense.
I have done it by adding an extra note in the staff, then, taking it out of note input, changing to another voice, then to a rest. It works pretty good most of the time. However, at the beginning of the verses is when I have trouble, especially when I put in the verse number. And, sometimes when I move the rest up into the lyrics lines, it moves the staves up or down. How would I overcome that?

The standard way to deal with this is simply to leave the lyrics 2 text on that pickup note blank. If there is no text associated with a note, singers will not sing it. Rests in lyrics are not a thing.

Lyrics on rests are possible though.
And a rest at the same beat as a note too, in a different voice
Also a rest in a lyric syllable, via the F2 special characters palette, they do have an alignment problem though

Of course, with Musescore 4, at least, you can insert a rest into the lyrics using the special characters window. While in lyrics mode, in Properties, look down into the text section for the Insert Special Characters. Click on it and select what you want.

They just show a bit too low (in Mu3 at least, haven't tried in Mu4)
