Triplets
I've seen how to create triplets. My question is when I have three existing notes. Can I modify them to be a triplet. How do you do that.

Please attach a picture or a (small) file of what you mean. I don't understand your issue precisely. But I know there is discussion of second voice problems at the same link:
https://musescore.org/en/node/325455
And you can perhaps better post your problem there: it is the discussion page for the duration editor, managed by the plugin creator lvr.

Read also on explode and implode in the manual. This allows you to separate the voices and reintegrate them. You could then treat each voice separately for the triplet problem

When two or more elements overalp and you wish to select one that is not "on top", use Ctrl+clcik to cycle through the stack of overlapping elements.

You can't convert non-tuplets to tuplets or vice versa, you'd have to delete and reenter them
