How do I change the tempo from swing back to straight eighth notes?
Hi, everyone!
I am trying to figure out how to get the "swung" eighth notes back to "straight" eighth notes for a piece I am writing for piano.
Any tips or suggestions?

Enter another swing text, right click the text and choose text properties, you can then select the swing tab and set it to off.

Yep! All I had to do was take out the "swing" text and replace the eighth notes with triplets.

I think I have a similar problem. I initially added the Swing text at the start of my music then edited the symbol to read "Allegro energico" not knowing that it affected the playback of the notes. Now all of the half notes have an uneven duration. For example, the Note at the bottom of the workspace shows pitch: E3; Duration: Eighth (on 200% off 1000%); etc. A dotted eighth note has Duration: Dotted Quarter (on 0% off 1060%).
I have tried the System Text Properties to turn off Swing but it does not change the duration of any of the notes. I also tried adding the Straight text to turn off Swing but it had no effect.
Any suggestions?

No need to mess with the Swing staff text. You can enter your tempo mark and edit it directly by double clicking on it and adding that "Allegro energico" text.

Meanwhile here's your score:

I turned off Swing using System Text Properties on "Allegro energico" and on the "arco" in measure 116 to stop the Swing in 121 and 123.

Which alternative? We'd be happy to learn about new ways to achieve the same result.

All I had to do was take out the "swing" text and replace the eighth notes with triplets. It's a lot of work, but it works well in the end!

Not really, triplets are much harder to read. If you've already done the work, I guess it's too late to fix, but simply doing it with the text is far easier and also much easier to read, so that's something to keep in mind for next time.
