Steps to reproduce:
1) Start entering notes into music sheet.
2) Continue doing 1_
3) Try playing the score by pressing the play button
4) The play button turns blue, but the score is not playing. Once the problem starts it occurs for all the open score sheets. And it does help to reopen the sheet. The program needs to be closed and then re-opened.
There is no pattern to when the problem occurs, so it does not look like this is a problem with a specific score.

Are you perhaps changing audio devices? MuseScore sometimes needs to be told to rescan, try toggling the MIDI button off then on (on the main toolbar). Otherwise, if you cannot come up with more precise steps to reproduce the problem - I've never seen anything like what you describe and cannot reproduce - please ask for help on the forum and include more info about your OS and your audio setup (devices, drivers etc). Perhaps someone else familiar with that particular OS and audio setup might have some insight into possible conflicts.

The same exact thing is happening to me. Version 3.6, happens often, and there's no way to fix it even after toggling the MIDI button on and then off. This makes it almost impossible to use the program and there's no pattern that relates to how it happens.
See https://musescore.org/en/node/96811 and try all of the suggestions there, including #8 regarding asking for help in the Support forum and including the listed information if none of the other suggestions work.
I have the same issue. Did anyone find a solution to the problem?
Please see the repsonse directly above yours and follow that suggestion carefully.

Just go to edit --> preference, under the I/O tabs, there is button says 'resstart the midi devices'. Press it should working fine after that
Indeed a know workaround

the 'restart the midi devices' didn't work for me, but what did work was clicking on the 'reset all preferences to default' and it now played from not moving from one note to another at all, to now normally playing again.

If it actually played but you didn't see the score moving during playback you probably did not have the Pan Score During Playback button selected. See https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/play-mode#playback-toolbar
Resetting to factory settings will revert this to its default position of On. But much easier would be to just click on the button in the playback toolbar.
Make sure there are no software or any Musescore updates. I had the same issue and so I checked for updates. Turns out there was one and the problem was fixed.
The sound on my main score is working but not the parts. Please see attached and let me know why this may be happening.
And now for some reason, the main score is playing only the soprano line and not the others. It was working fine before.
This issue tracker was discontinued long ago. If you have questions about how to use MuseScore, please ask on the support forum.
For the parts, you have muted all the staves, so no surprise none play. For the score, my guess is that you are making a range selection on a staff that isn't currently playing, so when you start playback, you don't hear anything because MuseScore solos any staff or staves where you have made a range selection. Again, though,, if you have further questions on this or any topic relating to MuseScore, please ask on the support forum.
