MS4 Mixer Automation
Is there a way to automate mixer settings, such as level, independent of the dynamic marks in a score? The new sounds in MS4 are AMAZING, but the balance is not exactly as it would be with real live musicians playing it. I'd like to control the mix of the playback independent of the dynamics I've marked in the score.

Open the same score in different notation programs and you will get different balances. I often have two scores for any project. One for real players ( although this involves guesswork ), and one for playback.
Don't forget, that is part of what the mixer is for.

Thanks. I understand that's what the mixer for. The mixer needs automation capabilities so I change parameters over time. FOr example I might want to turn up the violins for one section and then down for another.

I don't think there is a way to do that yet in MS4. In MS3 you could do it with velocity settings or piano roll editor. Those aren't in MS4 yet.
It would be cool if there was an automation curve for volume just like DAWs. One way around it, although it’s more work, is to export each part as a .wav, import them into Pro Tools or Logic, and then mix away as you would with any audio.
That way you get the dynamics you want from your score but you can mix the levels in audio. That’s what I’m doing right now, with reverb off in MS4 so I can use my nice Bricasti hardware reverb in the studio.
