Transposing into another clef

How do you transpose a song into another clef? Not just into another key.

Changing the clef of a song doesn't require transposition - just changing the clef. Simply add the desired clef from the palette. See the Handbook under "Clefs" for more information. if you then *also* want to transpose the piece, say by an octave to fit the range of the clef better, select the music you want transposed (Ctrl+A to select all) and hit Ctrl+Up or Ctrl+Down.

Hi Marc....I hope you are still using MuseScore and can help me. I see your response above about changing clefs on songs, but I see a number of songs in Treble clef that I'd like to change to Alto as I play the viola, but they're not my songs....just songs I'd like to play if I could change the clef. Do I have to go through an ap on my phone to do this? Not on my computer? I don't find a simple answer in the handbook.

Indeed, you need to use the MuseScore notation software on your computer to edit a score - not the mobile reader/player app.

So, save the score to your computer, load it into MuseScore on your computer, then change the clef as described in the Handbook (e.g. select original clef, click new clef in palette). Chances are to make it playable on viola you may also need to dro it down an octave if originally written in treble clef, or raise it an octave if originally written in bass. To do that, Ctrl+A to select all, then Ctrl+Up/Down to raise/lower an octave.
