Palettes icon not appearing
I was using musescore and it crashed causing the Palette icons to disappear. how do I fix it? thanks

glad to see Im, not the only one.
Might be a graphics driver issue, not supporting OpenGL 2.0?

I found that resetting to factory mode fixed the issue. Unfortunately that that's the case.

Another possibility is that somehow your palette scale setting in Edit / Preferences / Advanced got set to 0. The factory reset would have fixed that if so.

would that get rid of my scores as well or reset my settings?

Nothing you do within MuseScore will ever remove your scores. But factory reset does reset your Preferences settings. So before resorting to that, try setting palette scale back to the default value of 1.
