Pieces on separate tabs

I find the v4 interface awkward and confusing. To see what pieces I have open I must click the home tab, but this also shows pieces recenly accessed, whether currently open or not. Is it possible to configure v4 to show open pieces as separate tabs on the main screen, as v3?
